Assisted Reproduction and Andrology Laboratory in Spain

Welcome to the heart of Vida Fertility. Those who have undergone fertility treatment know how important it is to be confident in every step of the process. That is why in our assisted reproduction laboratory we apply the most advanced technology and precise protocols that guarantee the best management of gametes and embryos.
This is the Vida Fertility assisted reproduction laboratory
Every detail is designed to offer security and peace of mind to those who place their trust in us. Here, science, proximity and the experience of our colleagues combine to maximise the chances of success.
From in vitro fertilisation (IVF) to embryology and andrology, we combine cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence to improve embryo selection and maximise the likelihood of success.
Accuracy, safety and commitment to each patient are at the heart of our work.
Cutting-edge technology
Vida Fertility’s laboratory is equipped with the most innovative tools to guarantee safety and the best results:
For absolute control of each sample throughout the process.
Essential to maintain a sterile and controlled environment.
Improves accuracy in ICSI, biopsy and embryo selection processes.
Ensure a contaminant-free environment with optimal temperature and humidity conditions.
Monitoring of embryo development without altering culture conditions.
With alarm system, to guarantee the safety of gametes and embryos.
Enables more effective sperm selection by limiting the risks associated with DNA fragmentation and promoting better-quality embryonic development.
We optimise the environment for fertilisation and embryo development.
Key in sperm selection and sample handling processes.
Essential for assessing sperm quality and concentration with high accuracy.
For detailed analysis of semen samples.
This ensures safe preservation of the samples.

What do we do in the andrology laboratory?

The male factor plays a fundamental role in the pursuit of pregnancy, which is why our andrology laboratory is designed to analyse, improve and select the best spermatozoa for each treatment.
Seminogram is the basic semen analysis that allows us to assess sperm quality according to WHO criteria. We evaluate concentration, motility and morphology to identify possible alterations and determine the most appropriate treatment.
This additional test selects the most motile sperm through an in vitro process that simulates the female reproductive tract. The motile sperm count (M.S.C.) helps us to choose the best assisted reproduction technique, optimising the chances of success.
The COMET test, a highly sensitive technique that can detect both single and double stranded sperm DNA fragmentation. With a simple semen sample, we identify possible damage to the genetic material, key information for personalising treatment and improving success rates in assisted reproduction.
After a vasectomy, it is essential to verify that the vas blockage has been effective. To do this, we carry out a series of control semenograms, scheduled according to each case, with the aim of confirming the total absence of sperm in the ejaculate.
When retrograde ejaculation is suspected, we analyse both semen and post-ejaculation urine for the presence of sperm. If positive, the samples can be prepared for use in in vitro fertilisation.
Artificial insemination can be performed with semen from the partner (AIH) or with a sample from an anonymous donor (DAI). In both cases, the sample is prepared beforehand to select the spermatozoa with the best motility, increasing the chances of fertilisation.
Indicated for patients facing oncological treatments that may affect their fertility. Sperm freezing allows preserving the reproductive capacity for future use.
This is a simple procedure in which a small sample of the testicle is removed to identify motile sperm. If found, they can be cryopreserved for use in in vitro fertilisation.
What do we do in the embryology laboratory?

Here we work with eggs and embryos in their earliest stages, using advanced technology and state-of-the-art techniques to ensure the best embryo development.
Our team of embryologists analyses, selects and optimises each step of the process, always with a personalised approach to maximise success rates.
After the ovarian puncture, we retrieve the eggs and evaluate their maturity. Only mature oocytes can be successfully fertilised.
- In conventional IVF, the eggs are placed in contact with the sperm and fertilisation occurs naturally.
- In ICSI, we select the best sperm and introduce it directly into the egg to ensure fertilisation.
We observe the evolution of the embryos from day one to the blastocyst stage (d+5 or d+6). We use incubators with time-lapse technology to monitor their development and select the best quality embryos.
The embryo is deposited in the endometrial cavity with an ultrasound-guided cannula. If conditions are not optimal, it is postponed and transferred in a later cycle.
We freeze embryos and oocytes with survival rates of over 95%, allowing their use in future cycles and improving treatment planning.
Fertility preservation is indicated for women who wish to delay childbearing or patients who will face medical treatments that may affect their fertility.
Embryo biopsy is a procedure we perform in the laboratory to analyse the genetic load of embryos prior to transfer. With a minimal extraction of cells at the blastocyst stage, we can detect chromosomal alterations by means of the Preimplantation Genetic Test (PGT).
In order for an embryo to implant in the uterus, it must first break through its outer layer, called the zona pellucida, in a natural process known as hatching. In some cases, this process may be compromised, so in the laboratory we perform assisted hatching using a precision laser system.
