Getting pregnant with Egg Donation

Egg Donation or IVF with anonymous donor eggs is an efficient reproductive solution for patients who cannot have children with their own eggs. It has high pregnancy rates and does not require the patient’s ovarian stimulation and posterior ovarian puncture to retrieve her eggs.

Therefore, egg donation is an in vitro fertilization (IVF) where the fertilised oocytes come from a donor. Once fertilised with the sperm of the couple or a donor, the embryo is transferred to the uterus of the future mother who will be the one pregnant and giving birth to her baby.

Who is Egg Donation for?

This treatment is indicated in the following cases:

Several unsuccessful attempts of IVF with own gametes.

Repeated miscarriages.

Low ovarian reserve. Advanced maternal age.

Genetic alterations undetectable by a Preimplantational Genetic Test.

Egg donor selection

The Egg Donors Selection

We follow rigorous processes for selecting our egg donor candidates. Around 40% of candidates for egg donation are ultimately suitable for entry into our programme.

We analyse their fertility, physical and psychological health, personal and family history, and carry out a genetic study to rule out they can carry any serious illnesses. On top of this, the ideal donor chosen for each case must meet the criteria of phenotypic similarity with the patient. These criteria are ethnicity, skin colour, eyes, hair, facial resemblance, height and body structure.

It’s also important to remember that, in Spain, the donors are strictly anonymous by law.

Our Egg Donation programmes

Thanks to our team experience acquired by our team, we know exactly what we are doing. That’s why we offer egg donation programmes with an exceptional level of guarantees. You can choose the programme that best suits your needs: embryo, euploid or pregnancy guarantees. The choice is yours.

Donor/Patient synchronisation

It is possible to achieve a perfect synchronisation between donor and patient cycles to ensure fresh fertilisation.

The Vida Fertility team has more than 10 years of experience developing synchronised egg donation cycles with patients from all over the world.

In order to adjust treatment dates to your availability, we will prescribe medication to synchronise the donor’s cycle with yours.

Endometrial preparation

At the beginning of her cycle, the patient will begin her endometrial preparation by taking estrogens. The objective is to reach an adequate endometrial thickness for the embryo implantation. At the same time, the donor will begin her ovarian stimulation to enhance follicular growth and obtain a good number of oocytes.

Fertilisation and embryo development

The mature oocytes are fertilised in the laboratory (with sperm from the couple or from a donor) to obtain embryos. This IVF is usually done by ICSI to increase fertilisation rates. The embryos then develop in the laboratory incubators until they reach the blastocyst stage (day 5 or 6 of embryo development).

Embryo transfer

The embryo transfer is a simple procedure where the selected day-5 embryo is placed in the patient’s uterus, without the need for any type of anesthesia. The embryo selection follows very strict quality criteria in order to achieve an ongoing pregnancy.

double donation

Double donation follows the same process than the egg donation treatment. The only difference is that the sperm used for fertilisation will come from an anonymous donor.

Double donation is aimed at single women or lesbian couples who can no longer use their own gametes. As it involves gametes from young donors, double donation is the treatment with the best success rates in assisted reproduction.
